| Beware Of “Diploma Mills” Beware of “Instant Online Certification” websites and mailings. Consider them just like the diploma mills that award academic degrees with no academic study. First Aid and CPR certification scams are nothing new. Some unethical providers blatantly forgo the appearance of legitimacy and sell first aid/CPR certifications outright. Selling instant and fraudulent lifesaving certifications to someone, who may be called upon to rescue a victim, may compromise the rescuer’s ability to save a life. The practice is highly unethical and in some cases, criminal. When OSHA regulations cite requirements for workplace first aid training, they often refer to “the American Red Cross or equivalent training” as the standard for training. |
